The Delirium Diaries III
By: Carmen Varner

The situation I find myself in
is similar to past.
I make the same mistakes,
yet I don't know I do wrong.
If I could simply take a moment
to envision the circumstances and the outcome,
maybe my life would be an alternate.
My emotions remain on mute
like a blaring television commercial.
This is a waste of time,
a destruction of all I deem essential.
I see not my future
nor my forgotten.
Nothing can compare to this twinkle in time,
so I focus on me.
I see what I want
and I do now as I please.
Only I can please myself.
If I love not myself,
I cannot ever adore another.

Life's Little Lessons: Part V

Saturday, January 05, 2013

It's been a very long while since I updated Life's Little Lessons. I'm still living, which means I'm still learning, which means there's always a moral to the story.

21. A day is only as special as you make it - Be it a birthday, a Monday or a crappy day, the day is only what you make it. If something doesn't go according to plan, just try your best to make it right. A birthday or an anniversary is just one day of the year. It doesn't define a moment, a relationship or a life. Make any day a great day. Keep a positive attitude. Woo! Today is an awesome day!

22. Cherish the moment - Things are constantly changing around us. Someone may die, someone may move, someone may stop speaking to you. Enjoy the present, right now while you're still in it.

23. Be trustworthy - If someone tells you something in confidence or opens up to you, don't go around blabbing their business. If you break that bond of trust it takes a lot of effort to regain a person's faith in you again. Be trustworthy from the start.

24. Spend time on happiness - "Instead of spending time towards hate that makes you feel terrible and angry/sad, spend all your time loving which makes you feel amazing and happy," said Sara P.

25. Spend all day outside - Just get out of your house. Drive or walk to a park and then wing it from there. Mix it up. Walk around your neighborhood, then to a botanical garden. Walk until your feet hurt and you have to sit down to regain some strength.

*Life's Little Lessons is a series about the moral of each day. I am a strong believer in positive thinking and seeing the good in the bad. After all, when a horrible thing happens, you can either wallow in your sorrows or find the deeper meaning in the experience. Even on the darkest of days, there is a raison d'être or reason for existence.
