5 Films to Watch on Netflix ASAP Vol. 2

Monday, June 30, 2014

Want to kick back and watch the boob tube? At the same time, you don't want to waste 20 minutes attempting to decide. When you finally choose something, you regret it 90 seconds later when you realize it was the worst movie choice ever. Back by popular demand, I created a second 5 Films To Watch On Netflix ASAP.

Netflix is wishy washy. Some films or shows are available for streaming forever, while some are terribly temporary. Watch these films before they're gone & you have to watch a bad pixelated version on some knock off sight. Without further adieu...

1. Kill Bill (1 & 2)

I was super psyched when this came on Netflix. Kill Bill is one of my all-time favorite films, so having access to it no matter whose house I'm at or what device I'm on is utter perfection. I've converted a few friends to becoming Kill Bill-oholics as well. It's gory, so beware. The story revolves around an assassin (Uma Thurman) & her journey to murder her ruthless employer. You need to see it to really enjoy it though; no description does it justice. It's action-packed, kickass, & captivating. Perfect for girls night (if you aren't in the mood for a rom-com), boys night, or date night!

2. Blackfish

Blackfish is a really thought-provoking documentary on the life of Tilikum, an orca aka killer whale, who caused several deaths while in captivity. The documentary delves deep into the life of performing Sea World animals. It's a brain tickling film. Expect to be shocked & possibly disturbed at the lives these animals live. After all, no pool can ever be as big as the ocean.

3. Grease

Can't go wrong with this classic. The film stars a young & handsome John Travolta & the always lovely Olivia Newton-John. The movie revolves around greaser Danny & good girl Sandy, & their forbidden summer of love & thereafter. I think musicals are funny. Why are they randomly singing & dancing in class? I guess it's part of the experience. Make some popcorn & sing along.

4. Don Jon

Don Jon sports a pretty A-list cast. Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Scarlett Johansson, & Julianne Moore star throughout this comedy/drama/romance film. Gordon-Levitt plays Jon who is your average New Jersey guy dedicated to his family, friends, & church....& well, porn. He meets hot, sexy Barbara, played by Johansson, & wants to get with her. You basically see the characters develop & the story unravel as the film goes on. Can Jon stop his addiction? Or will he throw it all way to watch one more big-breasted porn star? You'll just hafta watch & see.

5. Jumanji

Yesss! I loved Jumanji as a kid. Jumanji is magical board game that two kids find. Once they start, they're in for a surprise. Why? For one, when they initially began the game they released a man who'd been trapped for decades within the game. Let's just say the board game makes some crazy thing happen in real life. Watch this to relive you childhood or watch with your own children, friends, or family.

Switch it up. Stop watching reruns of the same old shows & take a look at one of these films instead. These movies are perfect for a summer gathering with friends. Have a movie marathon, eat some munchies, & sip on a mimosa & you're good to go.

Have you seen any of these films? Which one will you watch first? :]

Q&A with Etnik

Friday, June 27, 2014

Etnik. Fun fact: Etink is both his stage name & real name. It's kind of like getting to know him & his music on a personal level. "Oh hey! Etnik is playing at HARD Summer." I mean, it sounds pretty casual. My interview with Etnik (also seen ETИIK) was short. The German native is a man of few words. Brief. Concise. To the point. Instead he lets his music do the talking. He even described his music as simply Etnik, a man twisting knobs on stage. Well, let's see what he had to say.

Name: Etnik Zarari
Age: 22
Hometown: Hamburg, Germany
Current Location: Hamburg

What is a typical day like for you?  Having breakfast when others have dinner.

Where do you gather inspiration? It depends on the mood actually, but I'd say mostly from clubbing.

What do you do right before you go on stage? I take a quick look at the crowd & then I decide what the opening track should be.

How would you describe your music style? It's hard for me to describe my own music. It's just me being me while twisting the knobs.

What are you most excited about for HARD Summer? It's my first time playing in L.A., gonna be cool to play there, and I'm really looking forward to hang out with my good pals from Owsla & Pilo.

What did you have for breakfast this morning? Kellogg's Toppas. One of the top 10 on my cereal list.

Where's the coolest spot to hang out in Hamburg? Maybe it's just me, but I think Hamburg's coolest spots are changing weekly - so you are basically always kinda busy finding them.

Can you dance? Haha. Yes. Back in the days before I even started making music, I used to be in a dance school locking & popping.

It looks like you have your logo/branding tattooed on your chest, kind of like a superhero. How many tattoos do you have & who is your favorite superhero? It's my first and only tattoo. There's no superhero I can identify with.

What do you do when you're not making music? Listen to my favorite music or read books on how to improve my sound.

In case you were wondering or didn't know (like me), Kellogg's Toppas are the American equivalent of Kellogg's Frosted Mini Wheats. Mind blown! But at least we know one of his top favorite cereals. Etnik is a dapper young gentleman with cool hair & a unique style. His modern twist on techno will be a hit at HARD Summer. Check out one of his music videos here:

What to Wear to HARD Summer

Wednesday, June 25, 2014

It's time! Ah yes. The trap & bass runs vigorously through your veins. The pulse of the music beats through your body. The crowd is jumping up & down from the start of the set to the finish. It's only 8 p.m. We have until 11 p.m. A solid 12 hours in total. Everyone is hyped. This is HARD Summer.

So what would I wear?

What I'd Wear to a Rave (HARD Summer)

I'd wear this. I would rock this look from head to toe. I'm heading to HARD Summer in August. I went last year with the boyfriend, so I have a good idea of what to expect. Let me do some explaining.

It's going to be hot

The festival doors open at 11 a.m & end at 11 p.m., so you'll be spending many hours in the sun. With that said I always load up on sunscreen as well as some lip balm to stay as safe as can be. Sunglasses are a must! The sweltering heat is caused by the hot California summer sun, but it's also due to the crowd. A light kimono helps as well.

There are masses of people

This is another reason to dress less. Everyone is heaped together. Walking. Dancing. Moving. Twerking. A light, flowy crop top is the way to go. It's not tight or sticking to my body. Pair it with Bart Simpson shirt or shorts or hat (my favorite television character).

Party, party, party

Since the stages are absolutely packed & kids are moving about frantically, I commit to wearing close-toed shoes. No cute white ASOS platforms for me unless I want a broken toe & a rolled ankle. I wanna dance. I wanna get to the front row, so sneakers are necessary. Plus, I'm on my feet for 12 hours give or take. I don't want to carry a purse.

I'll opt for a small wristlet to keep my phone, ID, tickets, & money in. I want to be able to stash it in my pocket or put it on my wrist without the risk of losing my valuables. I'll go for dainty jewelry to accessorize my look. I'll wear a few light rings paired with a simple necklace.

Check out my interviews with some of the HARD Summer 2014 performers:

Healthy Recipe: Cumin Chickpeas & Couscous

Saturday, June 21, 2014

Time for a delicious easy vegetarian recipe!!! I've been living the veglife for nearly 9 years now, so I've made my fair share of meals. This one is tasty, simple, & better yet nutritious! Cumin Chickpeas & Couscous is a hearty & quick meal to make when you don't have much in your fridge.

Why should you make this?

Quite frankly, because it's like magic on your taste buds. Magic, I say!! It's an easy cheap vegetarian recipe to make  in a jiffy. Garbanzo beans are basically a power food. They are extremely high in fiber & protein. They also contain a decent amount of iron, folate, magnesium, phosphorus, & manganese. Find out more about the nutritional facts of garbanzo beans.

Cumin Chickpeas & Couscous is a completely easy cheap vegan recipe. It isn't difficult whatsoever, even the most horrible of cooks can create this tasty meal. If you can boil water, you can make this! If you can't boil water, just try anyway. You may surprise yourself. :]

This recipe was inspired by one I had cut out of a magazine years ago. I recently took a gander at it & it sounded scrumptious, the only issue was I had half the ingredients. I've been trying to take advantage of the foodstuffs already in my cabinet. I wasn't about to purchase anything, so I had to make it work.  Talk about an easy cheap vegetarian recipe!

I improvised & created something with the items I did possess. I surprised myself with my culinary skills. It turned out nicely. When I tasted my experiment, I thought... "How is this so good? Did I really make this? I should be a chef." Well, I kind of thought that.

Ingredients:
1/2 onion
1 zucchini
1 can garbanzo beans (aka chickpeas)
1 tbsp tomato paste
about 1 tsp cumin
A pinch of turmeric, salt and pepper.
*double up on ingredients if making for 3 or more

Preparation:
 - Chop onion & zucchini into medium chunks.
- Strain can of beans.
- Measure out cumin & other spices.

How to make it:
1. Add olive oil to a pan & sauté your onions.

2. Once the onions begin to cook & look slightly transparent, add zucchini. Cover & let it simmer for about 7 minutes, stirring occasionally.

3. When the veggies appear cooked or are beginning to brown, add strained garbanzo beans into the zucchini-onion mixture.

4. Now is a good time to make the couscous. Add 1 cup couscous to 1 cup water. You can do this in a pot or even in the microwave. Add salt, pepper, vegan butter, etc to taste.

5. Once garbanzo beans are heated through, add tomato paste & seasoning. Stir until paste is evenly distributed.

6. Add the cumin chickpeas over the couscous or mix them together. Enjoy!

That's it. It's really simple. Please check in for all sorts of easy cheap vegetarian recipes, positivity, & more! Hope you enjoyed this clean vegetarian recipe. Nom nom nom! Integrate healthy meals into your diet for a happier, healthier life. Health is in your hands! :]

Tropico

Tuesday, June 17, 2014

Good morning! It's a lovely California day, so how about some California style? From my desk window, I can spot 8 palm trees. On my shorts I can spot the same amount. Coincidence? Not likely. I mean hello! I love tropical print, hence my Tropical Print Inspiration. Tropical print is one of the hottest summer trends right now. The weird thing is, I've never been to a tropical destination. Have you?

If it looks as though I'm staring coyly into the camera it's because the sun was so bright. Surprised my eyes are even open. Anyway, I actually consulted with the boyfriend on which shirt to pair these shorts with. They're bright & vibrant, a statement piece itself. We liked the bright blue spaghetti strap rather than the pink & white flamingo crop top, which was my other choice. But it would've been too busy. Plus, I like the mixture of tropical print with blue. It's kind of symbolic of the blue tropic skies.

La dee da. It's a joyous day. You can tell that summer is just around the corner. The mornings are warmer. The nights are longer. I just want to wear shorts all the time. I wish I had worked out a little more & were a little tanner, but summer creeped up on me. Hey, it's never to late to make a change. So...I've been eating cleaner & upping my 'workouts.' Let's be real, I could work out more. But any healthy lifestyle change is a positive change.

Tank: Forever 21 // Shorts: Kohl's // Boots: H&M

My questions to you are: are you ready for summer? What are you most looking forward to? Did you delay on working out like I did? :]

Q&A with ETC! ETC!

Monday, June 16, 2014

ETC! ETC! Who is the man behind the music? Well, from what I can gather via our interview, ETC! ETC!, is a father first then a musician. Although his life revolves around music & touring, it's crystal clear that he adores his two children, Olive, 4, & Isaac, 1. On Father's Day Sunday, he posted the classic fridge photo of he & the kids. Cue the ooh's & aw's.

ETC! ETC! also known by his real name, Jose Guerrero, has a large following throughout his social media presence as well as in real life. His music is energetic, fast-paced, & bass-heavy. I mean, that's what you would expect from a trap & bass, moombahton artist. What is moombahton? It's a beautiful mixture of house music & reggaeton.

Who is he? What's he like? Who is he rooting for in the World Cup? Most importantly, does ETC! ETC! prefer tea or coffee? You'll see.

Name: Jose Guerrero

Age: 30
Hometown: Los Angeles
Location: Los Angeles

Where do you find inspiration for music? In everything. Other people's songs, vibes, my city. Just depends on the day and how I'm feeling that day I guess.

Do you have any pre-performance rituals? I like to go to the club early to feel it out, see how the night is going, and prepare myself mentally.

What's it like to be on tour? Going on tour is amazing, but it is stressful. It's fun because you get to be in different cities, meet tons of amazing people, see everyone's cultures, and try things you normally wouldn't in your city. Stressful because you miss your fam, it's hard to work on music on the road, and if you are alone it gets lonely.

How do you define success? Man, success is what you make of it. What you want to accomplish in your mind, heart, and soul. I feel like the only way to feel true success is to be happy with what you have accomplished, in your goals, etc.

What are you most excited about for HARD Summer? Playing on home turf. I was fortunate to be added to HARD Summer last year last minute and it was beyond amazing. Best festival I played. So this year now that I know what to expect I'm going all out.

How many languages can you speak? Two. English and Spanish.

What's one of your favorite family traditions? Hmm really don't have any. I should start some I guess.

If you were immortal for a day, what would you do? Make fun of everyone who was mortal, and do tons of stunts.

Are you a coffee or a tea person? 100 percent coffee. Tea is for old people. Coffee is my addiction. Makes me feel good.

What do you do when you're not making music? Spending time with my two kids.

Tell me something I don't know about you. I have a collection of soccer jerseys that I've never worn but one day I will.

Perhaps he'll get some use out of his soccer jerseys as he watches the World Cup. Who's he rooting for? "Obviously I'm rooting for USA. It's our team. Come on." Well I had to ask. When I informed him that I preferred tea myself, he quipped with, "Stop being old and drink coffee."

Mint Strawberry Lemon Water

Saturday, June 14, 2014

Fruit infused water is the new "it thing." Water is a must. Oh you know, because it is the life force for earth & all living beings. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, (CDC) water keeps your temperature normal, lubricates & cushions your joints, protects your spinal cord & other sensitive tissues, & gets rid of waste through urination, perspiration, & bowel movements. On top of that, water is especially satisfying in the heat.

But why not mix it up a bit? I've got a really nice fruit infused water recipe for you. Mind you, this isn't some sugary flavored water. This is simply fruit infused. The fruits give the water a nice kick of taste without making you forget it's water. Try this out if you want to mix it up during the summer.

Ingredients:
- water
- water jug
- strawberries
- lemons
- mint

1. Get water - I used tap water because the fruit makes it taste better anyway. Plus, I'd feel pretty guilty opening up 5 bottles of water for this. Just add the water to your water jug or container. Fill it up most of the way.

2. Cut up fruits - Slice two lemons into thin pieces. Cut several strawberries. I created two sizes: larger chunks and smaller pieces. You can add as much lemon or strawberries as you want. This isn't rocket science, so just add what you enjoy! Toss them into your water container.

3. Add mint -  I grow my own mint and I'd been dying to use it. Get mint from the store or use your own; it doesn't really matter, but I personally prefer homegrown. I tossed 5-6 mint leaves into the jug. I crushed them up a bit because I felt it released more flavor that way.

4. Let it sit - Let the water sit for at least two hours. The longer you let the fruits infuse, the better it will taste. I promise. Ideally, you should leave it overnight.

You can alter the amount of fruit or mint in any way. If you want it to be more strawberry-y, add a few more strawberries. Prefer it to be lemony? Use more lemons. Don't like mint? Don't add any. Love mint? Add more.

Mint Strawberry Lemon Water is the perfect way to cool down on an unbearably hooo0ot day. Enjoy and stay cool!

Will you make this? What's your favorite fruit infused water combination? :]

50 Shades of Blue

Thursday, June 12, 2014

Blue is everywhere. It's the perfect summer color to mimic the gorgeous blue California skies, or wherever you're located. Unless it's cloudy & rainy where you're at, in which case you can pretend you have clear blue skies. As I scoped the interwebs, magazines, style bloggers, & etcetera, I noticed a trend: layering shades of blue. I like the monochrome look. It's out-of-the-box & playful. You can utilize items together that you normally wouldn't, which is superb because I have a lot of blue in my closet...for some reason.

An all blue look is perfect for summer. What does the blue color blue signify? Well, it's the color of the sky & the ocean. Thus, it is related to calmness & serenity. Blue is said signify trust, loyalty, wisdom, confidence, & faithfulness. Light blue is associated with health, healing, tranquility, understanding, & softness. Dark blue usually represents knowledge, power, integrity, & seriousness. Blue is normally associated with males, as it is a widely worn & accepted color for men. But come on ladies! We can rock the blue too.

What else is blue? Smurfs are blue. Prior to being exposed to air, blood is blue. Bluejays are blue. Blue from Blue's Clues is blue. The Blue Man Group is blue. Obviously, the sky is blue. There's a lot of blue out there, but the question is....

Will you be sporting the 50 shades of blue look? Do any of the adjectives associated with blue apply to you?

Q&A with Cut Snake

Wednesday, June 11, 2014

CUT SNAKE. They're tan & blonde & good looking, pretty much what you'd imagine a stereotypical Australian/San Diegan hybrid to be. But the boys are also funny & friendly. Let's just say these two gentlemen are not to be taken seriously. They've got a very rampant sense of humor, more so Paul, what with his dick surfboard and all. But one thing is perfectly clear: Australia has the best waves. Sorry California, you just don't cut it for these lads from the Land Down Under.

Cut Snake's music can be best described as chill wave techno. Their jams are the kind of thing you tap your toes to, nodding your head & swaying slightly to the beat. The duo will be playing at HARD Summer on August 2 + 3, their first festival in Los Angeles.

Paul (left) & Leigh (right)

Names:
Leigh Sedley & Paul Fisher

Age:
Leigh: 30
Paul: 28

Hometown:
Leigh: Sunshine Coast (Australia)
Paul: Fuck knows

Location:
Both: Los Angeles

What do you think the other person brings to the duo?
Leigh: Fish brings nudity, bad breath, and A LOT of noise.
Paul: Music, picks his nose a lot, always scratching his ass too. He also brings a shit smell with him.

Where do you find inspiration?
Leigh: I find a lot of inspiration in old music, I try to be open and listen to everything. I dig almost all styles of music, and so listening to a wide range helps me bring different elements into whatever we're working on.
Paul: The beach.

What's the music-making process like?
Leigh: Normally just us sitting in the studio for 10 hours with a carton of beer. By the end we emerge thinking we have made THE BIGGEST TUNE EVER.
Paul: Fun. Loud. Repetitive. Slow. Fast. Grooving. Dancing.

How did you two meet?
Leigh: We met when we were 12. We had to stay together for 3 days to film a small TV surf documentary. He was an absolute animal. To this day, I don't think I'll ever see a looser 12 year old than Fisher!
Paul: We met at the beach competing against each other. From there we travelled the world, surfing, and partying having the hell time.

What are you most psyched about for HARD Summer?
Leigh: This is our first festival in LA, so I guess just getting to play such a big festival amongst so many of the artists we look up to.
Paul: Just to play in front of a crowd that loves house music and is there to go crazy and have fun. Also watching other amazing artists from everywhere going mad! I also just wanna get right amongst it and have a boogie.

What's the best television show ever created?
Leigh: The Simpsons.
Paul: Breaking Bad.

How would you describe your perfect day?
Leigh: Wake up to a big healthy breakfast in bed, followed by a long surf with good mates in perfect waves, a few beers in the afternoon watching the sunset, then hit a Jimmy Buffet concert in Hawaii.
Paul: Getting barrelled all day, coming in with all ya mates and just having beers, listening to good tunes while the sun goes down.

What's the San Diego surf culture like compared to Australia's?
Leigh: It is very similar but the waves in Australia are way better.
Paul: SD waves break once a year. Australia breaks everyday.

Do you dream in color or black & white?
Leigh: Colour of course!
Paul: Colour. I love colour.

What do you do when you're not making sweet sweet music?
Leigh: Surf, eat good food, and travel. It's a tough life.
Paul: Surfing my brains out. Hanging with my girl, friends, and family!!!

Leigh & Paul's personalities & tunes showcase their style effectively. You don't have to be best friends with them to know that they're cool kids. From Oz to U.S., from The Simpsons to Breaking Bad, from the Sunshine Coast to "fuck knows," Mr. Fisher & Mr. Sedley are good guys, good vibes. Stay updated. Stay cool. Stay positive.

5 Simple & Healthy Snack Ideas

Tuesday, June 10, 2014

So you're hungry & want a snack, but you don't want to pig out on something nasty. Good for you! :] I can help you with that. Who doesn't enjoy a good noshing, especially if it's appetizing &  hearty? Try these 5 easy & healthy snack ideas.

1. Frozen grapesThis saintly snack is seriously scrumptious. I especially recommend using seedless green grapes. The inside tastes just like your average ice pop. It's cool, tasty, & satisfies your sweet tooth. Nothing feels better than polishing off a bunch of frozen grapes with friends and not regretting it one bit. At least it's fruit & not an entire bag of potato chips! Plus, grapes are a good source of vitamin C and K. Once you start, you can't stop.

2. Veggies in dressing - Take broccoli, cauliflower and carrots and marinate it in dressing. Italian or balsamic dressing is quite amazing. Let the veggies sit for a few hours or overnight then pig out. It tastes incredible, almost like you're cheating & not even eating vegetables. This healthy vegan snack idea is not just for vegheads; we all should eat our veggies!

3. Homemade popcorn - You can buy an enormous bag of popcorn kernels from pretty much any grocery store. It's cheaper & better for you than the microwaveable stuff. Air popped popcorn has fiber and protein. You just need a pot, add some oil & wait until it's hot before you add the kernels. Put a lid on it and wait for those babies to POP!! You can add salt and pepper, vegan butter, or my personal favorite, chocolate chips. The chocolate melts all over the popcorn and once it cools down it becomes chocolate covered popcorn. Yum!

4. Applesauce - This tasteful tidbit is not just for kids anymore. Purchase unsweetened applesauce for a healthy vegan snack. The added sugar is unnecessary since there's already a ton of natural sugar in apples. I've seen four-packs of applesauce at the dollar store so this is not an expensive item. Applesauce is fat-free and cholesterol-free. Include cinnamon or nutmeg to taste.

5. Fruit salad - Look around the kitchen. Grab any & every fruit you have. Chop them up, add a bit of cinnamon & you're good to go. Use the fruit that you haven't eaten yet or that's just chilling around your kitchen. A fruit salad is the perfect way to get rid of that stray apple, spotted banana & old tangerine. If you have any, spruce your fruity salad up with some raisins or nuts. It's easy, breezy, fruity, natural, healthy, delicious. There is no wrong way to make this, so go crazy.

For those of us struggling to make healthy nutrition choices, I hope these easy healthy vegan snack ideas can help you out. Sure, potato chips would hit the spot, but think of all the nutrients, vitamins, & minerals within fruits & veggies. Stay healthy! Stay happy! :]

How To Enjoy Your Travels: Trip Essentials

Sunday, June 08, 2014

Whether you venture to the closest big city to you or across the country or across the globe, travel is one of the best experiences of life. You get to see new places. You get to experience something different such as a strange food or a kooky building. You get to talk to strangers. So many great things occur when you travel.

My mum just got back from a short trip. She spent four days just a couple hours north of her actual home. It wasn't some international trip with glamour and sightseeing. It wasn't a crazy cultural experience. It was simply a time to get away and enjoy something new.

Upon her arrival back home, she told me what she had concluded about travel. According to my mum, here are the essentials of travel, regardless of where you go.

Do the basics, then do something funky

1. Do the basics - It's only fair that you experience what tourists do in your specific location. Do the usual sightseeing, whether it's a bridge or a building or a museum. Knock out the obvious things first. Check it out online before you head out so you have some ideas.

2. Do something funky - Okay now that you did "the usual," it's time to mix it up. Do something different. Ask a local what their favorite restaurant is or something underrated to do in the area. Nobody knows a city better than someone who lives there year round. As I mentioned earlier, do your research beforehand. Create a list of possible things to do or places to visit. That will help you when you finally want to do something funky!

3. Be lazy - I've found that travel is absolutely no fun if you've got a complete agenda.

8:00 a.m. - breakfast at  Harriet's Bistro
9:00 - 11:00 a.m. - sight see the Golden Gate Bridge &  Lombard Street
12 p.m. - lunch at the Fisherman's Wharf
1 - 5 p.m. - check out the San Francisco Museum of Art, The Exploratorium, & Alcatraz.
6 p.m. - dinner at Chateau Farrow

If you have your life planned out, it doesn't leave much room for spontaneity. Leave some wiggle room. Eat a nice breakfast at a local cafe then do whatever you want. Go into that really neat looking bookstore. Check out the local park. Sit and enjoy a coffee. You don't need to be busy busy busy.

4. Enjoy the weather - Weather and temperature add to the experience. Winter in Paris is a completely different dynamic than spring in Paris. Sometimes the rain or the clouds or the snow or the sun create a particular vibe. Go with it.

5. Walk / enjoy the scenery - Obviously there's the "go to" sights to view. You already did that. Now just walk. Trek across the town and see what it truly has to offer. If you're driving everywhere you may not get the opportunity to look at everything.

It's almost summer. Let's soak up the sun and have some fun! Where do you want to travel? What are your travel tips?

Stripes & Metallic // OOTD

Thursday, June 05, 2014

This is my first outfit post!!! :] I spent a lot of time focusing on my words, not my face. I'm a writer first & foremost. I wanted my poetry, my creative writing, my thoughts to speak for themselves. But things change & blossom & grow. I realized that people want to know a person, a human. Who is Carmen? What's she like? She writes but what does she look like? I'm putting all your (non-existent) questions to rest. Here I am! :]

It's a gorgeous San Diego day. The sun is shining. The ocean breeze is light. The palm fronds sway gently. It's 70 degrees out & it feels divine.

I determined that it's the perfect day for a tank, a light skirt, & some sandals. Thank you California for blessing us with absolutely delightful weather today. Luckily, it's a far cry from the terrible fires we had.

If I can, I like mixing colors, patterns, & textures. I like looking at the details. At first you see the overall painting, then you take a better look & notice the little things. Style is like an art. :]

I love optical illusions. Look at my legs! Whoa trippy. Hehe.

Woo. Thanks for reading y'all. Wishing you a happy day! What's your favorite thing to wear on a warm (almost) summer day? :]
