Coachella Countdown

I haven't yet shared this with you guys but come April next year, my boyfriend & I will be heading to Coachella for the very first time!!! This is valid reason for 3 (!!!) exclamation marks, wouldn't you say? We aren't rookies to music festivals, concerts, shows, & the like, but we are absolute newbies to Coachella. We will be heading to Weekend 1, which happens to be my birthday. My exact birthday, you guys!!! More exclamation marks. Sorry y'all. :]

I heard about the advance tickets in the knick of time. They were going to be available for purchase the very next day. Tickets sell out in a matter of hours. I looked up the Coachella dates & saw that Weekend 1 completely lined up with my actual birthday date (April 10th, by the way). I briefly discussed it with my manfriend & we decided to move forward with buying tickets. Prior to that moment we had practically scoffed at Coachella, writing it off as overrated, expensive, & busy.

What I know about...the ticket buying process - Fast forward to the next morning -- May 16 -- at 10 a.m. when the pre-sale began. I spent two hours sweating profusely, lurking over my computer screen, waiting for my order to load. Seeing as there are 1 trillion people trying to buy their tickets simultaneously, it may take a while to load. After a couple hours, I was in the clear. My tickets & payment had processed. Others were not so lucky. My boyfriend said when he went to buy tickets, the page crashed from too many users. We decided to both try to purchase tickets precisely for that reason. Luckily, I was victorious.

What I know about...ticket prices - I paid in full. I didn't go the payment plan route. I've done that with other things & it just doesn't work for me. I don't want to forget about a payment & end up with a canceled order or additional charge. The price of one 3-day ticket is $375.  $375 includes 3 full days of music. I also paid $85 for a car camping pass.

What I know about...camping - The $85 I paid is for 3 nights of onsite camping. We get to camp next to our car in a 10 ft. x 30 ft. spot. You can have as many people as can comfortably fit within your camp spot. So essentially you could share the camping spot with 6 friends & split it that way. However, only one car per spot. It ends up way cheaper than booking a hotel room for 3 nights. Plus, camping is part of the Coachella experience. Onsite camping areas are located on the grass fields adjacent to the festival performance area.

Here's what we know: the date (April 10 - 12, 2015) & the location (Indio, CA). That's it. The lineup has yet to be released. Keep checking in if you're interested in following up on Coachella, learning about the process, reading interviews with artists (once it's finalized), music festival style, & other cool stuff.

Please let me know if you have any intention of attending Coachella in 2015. Are you going to Weekend 1 or Weekend 2? Have you been before? Any tips? :]

  6. I am super jealous of you!!! (All three exclamation marks necessary also lol) I know what you mean about being "over" it. It's become too much of a show-pony costume party and not at all focused on the music itself which is a shame. Still, I wouldn't turn down going myself, in fact I'd still love to attend it one day. I'm sure you'll have the most amazing time, plus it's your birthday so it's bound to be a winner.

Everyone there is so kind, and the art they have inside the festival and the campgrounds is amazing!! Pack a TON of water and sunscreen. Cant wait to see the lineup in January :)
