Underrated TV Shows to Watch on Netflix

At the end of a long day I love to wind down with a little bit of Netflix. I mean, who doesn't? We've all heard about Orange is the New BlackBreaking Bad, & Friends. They're well-known, everyone talks about them, & they're available for streaming on Netflix. They're saturating your feed, but how about the shows you never hear about anymore? They're still good! In fact, they're awesome! Here are five TV shows that you should be watching on Netflix immediately!!

1. Twin Peaks
twin peaks

Who killed Laura Palmer? This show is whimsical & thought-provoking. It revolves around FBI agent Dale Cooper who comes to Twin Peaks to solve the murder of homecoming queen Laura Palmer. It's a drama but leans toward the mystic side; there are spirits, visions, dreams, & so many layers. This series was short-lived with only two seasons -- 30 episodes all together. Good news: a continuation series is in the works; that's wonderful because the finale left viewers confused, anxious, & wanting more. Watch it now!

2. 3rd Rock from the Sun
3rd rock from the sun

This is where Joseph Gordon-Levitt got his big break! 3rd Rock is about a group of aliens who are sent to earth disguised as a human family. Their duty is to experience & report how life is on earth a.k.a. the third planet from the sun. It's kooky & really ahead of its time. Many of the issues & jokes are relevant today such as racism, sexism, & gender identity.

3. Scrotal Recall
scrotal recall

Sex, love & life in your 20s. This British series revolves around Dylan who is diagnosed with chlamydia; his doctor urges him to let all his former sexual partners know so they too can get tested. Dylan tackles his list alphabetically so you get to learn about his sexual conquests. It may sound like a little bit TMI (too much information), but you rarely see a TV show or film bringing up anything about sexually transmitted diseases. Plus, it's funny.

4. Don't Trust the B-- in Apartment 23
don't trust the b in apartment 23

Small-town girl June makes it to New York & finds herself stuck with a crazy roommate, Chloe, played by Krysten Ritter. The show also stars James Van Der Beek. Don't Trust the B-- is definitely a quirky comedy about dysfunctional roommates & how they learn to cope with each other. This is perfect to watch with your girlfriends, your roommate, your sister, or any girl friend.

5. Lie to Me
lie to me

Crime drama alert! I am a huge fan of crime dramas & Lie to Me has a little extra oomph compared to your other shows. The series revolves around Dr. Cal Lightman who uses his knowledge of human behavior & body language to determine if people are lying. Take notes because maybe you can learn a thing or two on body language. I like to pretend I'm Dr. Lightman, trying to decipher lies by the twitch of an eyelid.

Take a break. Watch some Netflix. Enjoy your life. We have a lot of stress to deal with on a daily basis. Make sure you set aside some time each day to unwind & breathe. Have you watched any of these shows? What's an underrated TV show that you love? Do you have Netflix? :]
