Natural Artisanal Bath & Beauty Products: Jordan River Soapworks

I like a nice, natural product. I have mild eczema so I try to get a hold of items with ingredients that won't irritate my skin. Jordan River Soapworks* was created with that in mind; they use clean, natural, & pure ingredients. Their range of products are cruelty-free to boot! Jordan River Soapworks was kind enough to send me five products to try out. Let's take a look shall we?

The Roses are Red Artisanal Soap has a delightful rosy scent, like a fresh garden. The soap itself has actual rose buds inside it. Overall, I didn't like the roses because it gave off soggy rose petals while showering -- not the most pleasant experience as I would kick them down the drain. However, the smell was superb & the lather worked wonderfully. I love a product that lathers! This retails at $12 Canadian dollars (CAD) or $9.16 U.S. dollars (USD).

This Lavender & Clay Artisanal Soap smells more like clay than lavender. I am a huge sucker for lavender so I was expecting little bit more fragrance from it. However, the mild, earthy scent is quite soothing. It looks pretty, like a swirly marbled effect. Just like the Roses are Red soap, this one lathers fantastically & retails $12 CAD or $9.16 USD.

I really adore the smell of the Rose Geranium & Hibiscus Sea Soak. I don't take baths very often (like seriously, it's been about 10 years); the sea soak was a new experience for me. There were no directions so I wasn't sure how much to add to the bath. I tossed some in, then a little bit more. It didn't leave much of a scent in the water; this can be because I didn't know how much to pour in, but I did add a good bit of product. The hibiscus petals were very beautiful in the bath; they would leave a little trail of color. It was a pleasant experience! This 225g glass bottle retails at $29 CAD or $22.02 USD.

I used almost double the amount of this 15g Grapefruit & Bergamot Sea Soak glass vial for my bathtub so I'm not sure how good it will do you. I suppose sea soaks are about the experience; it doesn't hurt to try out the vials & then invest in the one you like the most. I am a bergamot fiend so the smell of this is intoxicating to me. The glass vial retails at $7 CAD or $5.34 USD.

The Cocolip Lip Butter is hydrating & goes on smoothly.  It smells like cocoa, like the cocoa powder you make hot chocolate from. This lip butter is a blend of coconut oil & cocoa butter, hence the scent. I'm not particularly a fan of potted lip products so I'm not sure if this is the best choice for me. This retails at $8 CAD or $6.10 USD.

Overall, I enjoyed testing out this range. My skin had no reaction which is an affirmative sign. A couple items I wouldn't personally purchase such as the rose soap or the small sea soak vial but perhaps they would work for you. My favorite items were the Rose Geranium & Hibiscus Sea Soak as well as the Lavender & Clay Artisanal Soap. At least I have an excuse to take baths more regularly until the glass bottle of sea soak is gone. Ta ta for now!

When was the last time you took an actual bath? Which of these items sounds the best for you? Would you try anything from this range? :]

  11. Thanks so much for sharing this, beautiful, as I do have sensitive skin myself! I wanted to share with you how I cured my eczema. I actually had it really bad on the palms of my hands and the back of my legs. It's been gone and has not returned for over a year now, since I removed dairy and meat from my diet for about 6mths and then I slowly started to incorporate back in, but for only a bout once a week, if not longer in between. I switched to a more vegan diet and I only use organic ketchup (tomatoes are said to make eczema symptoms worse). I suggest you try some of these things and see if it works for you, since this is a skin condition that stems from the inside out, as do most.

I hope you have a wonderful day and start to your week, beautiful!

    1. Hi Jalisa! I haven't had any problems with my eczema in about a year. Everything has gone away so I think it has to do with my using natural products with minimal irritants. :]

  12. The sea soaks sound really interesting. I would love to try them out but sadly I don´t have a bathtub anymore. Maybe I could use this for a nice foot bath. I wouldn´t have to use much of it then as well.

  17. I love the packaging of these products <3 I think I have a mild case of Eczyma as well, so this is helpful. I don't take as many baths as I would like, but if I did, I'd love to try the the grapefruit soak.
