Palm Springs // OOTD

Have you ever had one of those moments when you don't even realize you took something for granted, but then it's taken from you & all you can think about is how lucky you were? That happened on my trip to Palm Springs. I became enlightened as to the blissful temperatures of San Diego. I always forget how glorious it is until the moment I visit somewhere else.

Palm Springs was 106°F & unbearably hot. Truly. We did whatever it took to stay out of the sun, whether that entailed going to catch a matinee movie (Sausage Party) or making another stop at a cafe simply to sip on some iced coffee in an air-conditioned area.

We dropped by the Palm Springs Art Museum & had a blast looking at all the beautiful pieces. I'd highly recommended a visit if you find yourself in the area. Fred wanted to go outside to view some of the pieces & it turned out to be a gorgeous spot for an impromptu outfit of the day shoot.

As I mentioned in this post, breezy dresses are absolutely vital in the summertime. I want my dress to breathe easy & make me feel comfortable in the heat rather than constricted or restricted. This dress has been one of my favorites all summer long.

I wore my Nana's vest to add some pizzazz. Crochet vests are severely underrated. They can completely transform a look. I wear this vest all the time, but never with this dress. I ended up enjoying the combination! We took a few shots, then headed back into the museum — you know, for the air conditioning. Ah yes, the blissful comfort of cold air.

What's your favorite summer look? Is it hot where you are? :]

  8. Girl, I'm from Florida so I feel your pain. I've been in South Carolina for three years now and the first year I was so in love with the weather and then the past two years I've been complaining about the heat...until I go home to visit family and realize it's not THAT bad. Great look to btw! I love some crochet!

  20. Right now I'm visiting my mom in the Central Valley, so YES it's very hot haha. I was at 70 degree weather before and now it's mid to high 90s...

I would love to go to Palm Springs though, just for a fun weekend or something. It looks like it has a lot of really awesome places and I've been trying to convince my friends!

  22. Omg when you said Sausage Party I actually thought you meant it was a sausage part hahaha. Then I realized that movie had just come out. It's about as hot there as it is in AZ, and I cannot wait for winter to hit. So sick of the heat! Lovely look and glad you had a great time!

  24. Oh wow 106?!?! That's just too hot for anyone! A light airy Summer dress is a definite must in those temps! I'm not as hot as you are as I'm in the Seattle area and we are currently sitting at 70 today! My favorite Summer look would be jean shorts! They go with everything and if you find the right ones they are so comfy!
