This Post is What Happens When You Have Writer's Block

I've been sitting here staring at blank screen for about an hour now. I just wasn't sure what to say. For some reason I'm suffering from a bout of writer's block. I suppose that happens from time to time. I've started several blog posts & get a couple sentences in, then change my mind & delete everything. That's how I got here.

Fred is lying next to me on the bed. We're watching Sabrina the Teenage Witch, a show I like to put on the background sometimes. It's perfect for when you want to tidy up the room or fold your laundry. It's also a perfect distraction, apparently.

Speaking of tidying up, I watched some Marie Kondo videos on YouTube & it struck a chord with me. I love her method of keeping items that give you joy. Fred & I were able to declutter considerably. It felt good to get rid of some of that stuff that I've been holding on. Bye bye!

I bought a really cute Betsey Johnson bag that I hope to use as a laptop case & purse for airplane flights or perhaps when Fred & I go on a weekend trip. It (very snuggly) fits my laptop & has room for other goodies. It's the perfect mix of stylish & functional!

The temperatures in San Diego have slowly begun to decline, at long last. The frigid night air makes it so I have to close the window at bedtime. Normally I like to sleep with it open, but it's simply too cold now. I'm excited! I adore cold weather since it rarely happens.

Now you can download movies & shows from Netflix to watch later. Simply open the Netflix app on your phone & go to the menu. Click on Available For Download to see what's you can download. The download stays within the app, but you can access it even on airplane mode. Watch it on the plane, train, or wherever you find yourself.

Do you get writer's block? What's on your mind? Don't worry, it's fine if you babble. :]

  2. It happened to me yesterday. I planned to write an article about a sort of topic for the weekend but then I realised that I had no ideas. Then I got inspired from a book written by a professional coach and thought I can make that idea into something from my own perspective. I spend almost 5 hours to finish that post and it turn out with no logic at all. So in the end I said that I just need a good night sleep so I woke up this morning and did a post about what I wanted to do in the first place. And in few hours I will manage to post it hopefully.
My lesson: don't force it, if it's not there focus on something else. Better write something good and less than write something just to write. That was my experience :)

  3. I think it happens to everyone once in a while. It's a good thing though because it helps thinking things over and then opens up ways to new ideas.

  5. Writer's block? All. the. time.
I thinks there are just moments in your life when your head is just too full and you can't really even think about what to write in the first line hahaha
Love the picture, I'd really need one of those right now!

  6. I always get writer's block and I am really good at procrastinating - for example I folded all me and my boyfriend's clothes after the Marie Kondo method last week instead of writing my exams for school ;)

  8. I recently discovered Marie Kondo's videos on YouTube as well! After a few videos I found myself giving even more clothes away !! Ha ha! I read the book last year and loved the tidiness it left at my home ever since!

  9. Its refreshing to see when someone faces a writer's block to see this post. It gets so stressful for me and I keep trying to get some good decent content out. Sometimes you just have to let it be. xx

  10. I get writers block so often! I find, for me, that it mostly comes when I'm trying to write a post about something, if that makes sense. It always feels so contrived or awkward and like a sponsored post, even when it isn't. I'm trying to get something ready for tomorrow and it just reads like 'I'm being paid to say this' despite the fact that A) I'm not, and B) I just wanted to share this thing that I love! Frustrating.

As for Netflix, they just keep getting better, don't they? I can imagine how great it would be to just pull out your phone and watch a movie when you're on a flight between two strangers and with no screen on the back of the seat ahead of you ;)

  11. Sometimes random thoughts like the ones above are the best blog posts. They are so authentic. I used to love Sabrina the Teenage Witch!

  12. Love this post! Seriously great. Yes I do get writer's block and normally it happens when I am trying too hard and least when I just let things flow naturally..How easy it is to get lost in our heads these days?

  13. Ughh, writer's block is the worst. It usually happens when I just have NO idea how to start a post. So glad that Netflix now has that feature - it will be so good for commuters and long road trips (obviously if you're not driving!)

  14. I also get a writer's block and I tried looking for inspirations and if I already have the ideas to blog about, I'm too lazy to blog. Haha! I spent watching all the movies of 'The Pirates Of The Caribbean' and I can't wait for the 5th movie next year. Yay! :)

  16. Haha I get writer's block so often, like in every 3-4 months! It happens especially when I am trying to put my emotions into words, it's like I have it all in my mind but I can't even find a single word to write!!

  17. I think this problem appears quite often. Sometimes I also don´t know what to write about or simply don´t find the right words. Probably, it´s quite normal and even famous writers have writers blocks from time to time.
By the way, I love Sabrina the Teenage witch! :)

ergh writers block is the worst - i've been having such bad writers block recently and I haven't had the time to sit down and reflect to what to write which makes it even worse!

  28. Exactly, especiallt since it doesn't even help to try & force it, but let it run its course. :]

  35. I know what you mean. It's difficult to keep that balance but sometimes we need to step away & look at it from afar. And yes, that's exactly how I plan to watch my Netflix movies on my next long-haul flights. :]

  36. You just have to keep it out in the open. It's totally natural. :]

  40. It happens. You're completely right about not forcing it. Sometimes you'll end up writing something totally different & it's genius. :]
