Cool temperatures are hard to come by in California. It's a blessing when they arrive because I really love bundling up. But alas, it hasn't been very cold. We got just a tad bit of rain last night. Yay! I'd been pondering how to style this Grey Lapel Long Sleeve Loose Coat from SheIn* since it's extremely lightweight, so I decided to add it along with a bright shirt on a nice Cali afternoon.

I want to preface by saying that buying clothes online has its good points as well as its negative ones. You have no idea how many times I've purchased clothes only to have them not fit, look unflattering on my body type, have buttons falling off, etc. But online shopping is so convenient! Oh the humanity!

On the SheIn website, the loose grey lapel coat had the right balance of casual & timeless elements. On the model, the hem hit just a couple inches above her knee; it had a nice length to it. It appeared to be a trendy & versatile piece to wear during the fall since it was labeled as an autumn coat.

When I received it, I didn't feel as polished as I wanted to. The coat does have the collarless element & the rolled up sleeves which were perfectly functional. But it's not an autumn jacket, even for California standards. It's thin. Very thin. I literally put it over my face & was still able to read the subtitles on the television. The lapel coal was considerably shorter than I anticipated; it hit me upper-thigh as opposed to barely above the knee, as it appeared on the model.

Side by side comparison
Did it meet my expectations? No. Would I wear it? Yes. The best way I can describe it is if you're anticipating a chocolate chip cookie (because you freaking love chocolate chip cookies) but once you take a bite it ends up to be oatmeal raisin. Oatmeal raisin cookies aren't bad; they're still cookies & usually pretty tasty, but it simply wasn't what you wanted & hoped.

I really wanted it to be a fall staple for my wardrobe. Even on a SoCal autumn or winter night, I would be freezing in this coat. However, the jacket could be utilized as a light cardigan on a brisk but sunny day. I suppose that means I could use it year round! Now that's a good thing since San Diego is pretty much 75° & up 11 months out of the year.

If you're from the USA, I hope you had a joyful Thanksgiving with loved ones. If you're not, I hope you had a great day. It was a relatively relaxing day with my immediate family filled will tasty food. My ultimate favorite Thanksgiving dish is green bean casserole. It's so scrumptious. My contribution was a vegan apple pie & it was glorious!

How was your Thanksgiving? What do you think about this outfit? :]
