Mornings are different now than I'm my own boss. I don't have to fight traffic to make it to the corporate office. Instead, I head to my office nook near the living room for an early-morning blogging + social media coaching session with a client from Canada. I've been self-employed for two months. Eek, can you believe it? I better my processes, rituals, & routines daily and always make sure to take the time for a moment for me. You're probably wondering, "What the heck does the morning of an entrepreneur/blogger/coach look like anyway?" Let me show you a bit of my world!
7:30 A.M.
The day begins with my alarm going off. The alarm isn't as annoying when you get to wake up & work on your own business. I hop out of bed & immediately wash my face & brush my teeth. Taking care of myself is supremely important because it helps me feel beautiful, healthy, & ready to conquer the day. It’s not always easy to make time for ourselves, but it's imperative. When you work for yourself, sometimes you forget to take care of yourself. About two weeks ago, I began implementing at least 15-20 minutes every day to self-care.7:45 A.M.
After washing my face, I follow up with my Aveeno® Absolutely Ageless™ Intensive Renewal Serum. This anti-aging serum contains a concentration of ACTIVE NATURALS® Blackberry Complex infused with vitamins, antioxidants, & powerful anti-aging ingredients. This is one of my quickest forms of self-care, only takes like 8 seconds to put on. I love the scent & the way it absorbs into the skin. I can save time by using safe & effective products at my fingertips, & then invest that time back into myself.8:00 A.M.
I quickly check my email to see if there's anything on fire or that needs to be responded to immediately. Nothing too crazy today, so I prep for my 8:30 a.m. coaching session. I read through our emails to each other & open up the client's file which has my session notes, the client's answers to my Discovery Questionnaire, & any talking points for today's session.8:30 A.M.
BRB. Now I have a one-on-one video session with the client who recently bought her blog domain & set up her website, but said she didn't know what to do from there. Together we outlined her ideal reader, chatted about some of her core blog topics, & identified the next steps of what she should do given her current work situation.9:00 A.M.
Phew, session is done. I need some water; my throat is parched! I normally have a glass of water right next to my laptop, but I forgot it for this session. Oops. Fred heats up breakfast leftovers from yesterday & makes us some fresh coffee. We eat breakfast together outside on the patio.9:45 A.M.
The birds chirp happily up in their tree. A green June beetle buzzes around above us. Two butterflies dance together, then fly off into the distance. Rather that get back to work straight away, Fred & I take an extra 15 minutes to listen to a podcast. It’s been proven that self-care makes you more emotionally & physically capable of taking care of others. I know this is true for myself. Renewal serum, vitamin D, & gathering knowledge: these are my self-care investments for the day.10:00 A.M.
I spend some time publishing content throughout my social media channels. I respond to my emails. I work on a blog post (this blog post!!!), jotting down what I've done thus far. Then I take a look at my planner to see what else is on my task list for today.11:30 A.M.
I have another coaching session at 12 PM, so I stop what I'm doing to prep for it. This client wants to strategize about her blog content. One of her fears is that she'll run out of things to say & her readers won't be interested. I write down any final notes.
No morning workout today, so I'll make sure to take a walk or hike later this afternoon once it cools down. If I do a morning workout, I take a shower & use my Aveeno® Positively Radiant® 60 Second In-Shower Facial. It makes me feel invigorated & refreshed to keep up with my entrepreneur lifestyle. Okay, gotta keep working. Talk to you later!
How was my morning routine is a professional blogger & coach? Was it everything you dreamed of? Glamorous? Dull?
12:00 P.M.
Oh, it's noon now. Time for my second coaching session of the day.No morning workout today, so I'll make sure to take a walk or hike later this afternoon once it cools down. If I do a morning workout, I take a shower & use my Aveeno® Positively Radiant® 60 Second In-Shower Facial. It makes me feel invigorated & refreshed to keep up with my entrepreneur lifestyle. I think it's great that you're doing what you love, nothing more fulfilling than that. And I agree, self care makes us more productive. Great post! xx

I'd love to see how the rest of the day pans out! I always find that I have to have breakfast before starting any work from home - otherwise I feel like my day hasn't officially 'started' in my mind haha

It is so cool to hear what you do in a day, sounds like the perfect job!
ReplyDeleteI like the routine. Great setup and it seems like it works for you. :)
ReplyDeleteI really enjoy reading posts like this. Glad that you're doing what makes you happy!
ReplyDeleteI love Aveeno products. I so wish I was my own boss so I could create my own schedule, unfortunately I'm stuck with my 7:30-4:30 work schedule.
ReplyDeleteLoved reading more about your daily routine. I'm super nosy so I always love reading what others are doing.
ReplyDeleteIt's so fun to see how other bloggers and creatives schedule their work days. Working at home for ourselves we need to be very organized and stay on track. Looks like you have a fabulous, productive work schedule each and every day.
ReplyDeleteI think it's super important to take some time to yourself each day as well! Great post :)
ReplyDeleteGreat post! I can always tell when I haven't followed my morning routine. It throws my whole day off!
ReplyDeleteI find getting out of bed in the morning to go to work SO HARD. I look forward to the day that I can pull myself out of bed and be happy going to work - that's seriously amazing! It looks like you have your routine down-pat!

Your day sounds perfect! You start early get work done but take time to enjoy and appreciate moments when you can between calls and work related things.
ReplyDeleteThat's why I love working from home and blogging.

I love this! Reading about how your morning routine goes as your OWN boss just motivates me to get there as fast as I can!

Love the sound of your day! It's so easy to overlook taking time to care for yourself, whether that's through skincare or just that time relaxing outside while listening to podcasts, but it's so important to do those things!
ReplyDeleteWow what an easy going day! Except for all the work you have to do of course. It must be so nice though to be able to feel like you finally made it!!
ReplyDeleteI'm working towards making my blog my full time job, so this was so fun to read! Gives me something to strive for.
ReplyDeleteI always love getting insights into how other small business owners/bloggers manage their days. Really love that you take time for yourself as you should! I really struggled with that in the beginning, and it can lead to burn out if you're not careful. Self-Care is really just as important as any other facet of a business :)
ReplyDeleteThis is an awesome post! I am so jealous of your work life. It sounds like the ideal job, to work from home and run your own schedule as your own boss. This is definitely something I would love to have one day. Granted, it would make me eventually stay in my pajamas all day long and not actually change into something other than comfy clothes, but still!
ReplyDeleteAlso, I love Aveeno products, and I definitely am considering trying out that serum. I use so many Aveeno product already that I might as well add another.
Thanks for sharing!

It seems like you are very organized and I love that. I also really like Aveeno products, I use one of their moisturizers daily.

Congrats on your self employment! I love Aveeno products...they always provide results!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for reading! :]
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely! What's your favorite self-care routine? :]
ReplyDeleteOh gosh, it ranges every day. But I should definitely write about my full day. Maybe a monthly series! :]
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Pili! :]
ReplyDeleteThanks for reading, Lauren! :]
ReplyDeleteDefinitely! :]
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment, Lauren. I'm happy too! Have a great day! :]
ReplyDeleteI was living that schedule not too long ago, so I know the struggle. What are your goals? :]
ReplyDeleteHaha! Same, I love it too. Thanks for browsing. :]
ReplyDeleteThat's so true! If I don't stay organized, the entire day can go by without even knowing it!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely! What's your favorite self-care ritual? :]
ReplyDeleteTotally! Sometimes the routine itself can make you feel more productive. :]
ReplyDeleteIt's such a struggle when you don't want to go to work! Albeit, I'm not waking up super early anymore. My alarm is 8 rather than 6:45 AM. Makes me feel much better. :]
ReplyDeleteI'm working to find that work/life balance! I found that if I don't make time for those little moments, then I can't work. Blogging is my job. If I have anything to say or write about, that impacts me greatly. Making sure I have moments to live or read or breathe or stroll through nature benefits me on multiple levels. :]
ReplyDeleteThat's so awesome Susie! I'm so happy this was motivating! What's your goal for the rest of 2017? What do you need to achieve it? :]
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely Crystal! Spot on. What about you? What's your self-care routine? :]
ReplyDeleteHaha, right?! It's funny you should say that, Emely. I don't feel like I've made it but it's interesting here someone else say that. It goes to show we are our own hardest critics. What's your goal for 2017? :]
ReplyDeleteThat's amazing Audrey! What's your goal for the rest of 2017? What do you need to achieve it? :]
ReplyDeleteIt got to the point where I felt stuck on what to write. If blogging is part of my work & I have nothing to say, that is bad for me & bad for business. Self-care is basically mandatory! What's your favorite self-care routine? :]
ReplyDeleteI'm certainly living my best life compared to what I was doing before. It's important to note I'm building my business up. I don't make as much as money as I did at my corporate job & I'm building up my blog & following & my clientele. But it's really important to me to live & be happy. It's worth the struggle. It's worth the comments from strangers talking about how little I make (I publish my income reports on my blog). My goal is to talk about my journey & to inspire people just like you. What's your goal for the rest of 2017? What do you need to achieve it? :]
ReplyDeleteThanks Vicki! Absolutely. :]
ReplyDeleteThat's so cool. Which one do you use? :]
