Happy Halloween! As a social media manager, I started planning Christmas content for clients in August. Yep, it's true. Sometimes I can't believe it either. That said, it doesn't hurt to start planning out your Halloween content for the season. You don't have to wait until October to post. Brands like Oreo, Starbucks, and more start their festive fall content earlier. Earlier than ever!

Use hashtags to expand your audience reach on social media channels such as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, Pinterest, LinkedIn, and more. Use these on your Instagram account, Instagram captions, and more all spooky season. These are some of the most popular Halloween hashtags on all social media channels!

Include related hashtags to your photos and Instagram posts to increase how many people see the Halloween posts. Halloween is such a fun time of year when you can dress up, get spooky, and put up your best decorations.

Why Instagram Hashtags Can Be Good For Business

These popular Instagram hashtags are a great starting point to use these best Halloween hashtags on your account. No matter how many followers you have, you can always include one or two of the most popular hashtags so people can potentially find the posts. Hashtags on Instagram can help, but of course, it's not a fantastic cure-all that means you go viral once you include a particular hashtag

But Hashtags Are So Cringe. What Can I Do?

If hashtags feel salesy to you, then only do one. Just one. One that you feel okay with. You can do super specific hashtags so only relevant people see it. That way you don't have to feel cheesy for doing a bunch of tags, just one, maybe two if you feel up for it.  Whether you post recipes, memes, fashion, your posts could use a playful punch!

Where Should I Put the Hashtag?

Add the hashtags in the post itself or within the comments section. Just paste the related hashtags as the first comment. You can use hashtags anywhere that hashtags are available including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, Pinterest, LinkedIn, and more.

Using top hashtags can help you get more followers, a better engagement rate, more views, etc. It's not necessarily a cure-all, but the right hashtags certainly can help get seen by more people and elongate the relevance of your post. Halloween season is upon us so use these best hashtags on your next Instagram post. Other Halloween Hashtag Tips

  • Get specific on the hashtag based on your Halloween costume. If you dress up as Max Maxfield from Stranger Things use #StrangerThings or the name of your character aka #MaxMayfield.
  • Posting a trending hashtag with your pictures or videos can help spread the word or get people to engage, but it's not magical. After you post on your account, share on your Instagram Stories as well.
  • For example, if you are a bakery in Austin, Texas offering festive Halloween treats, it would be helpful for potential customers in Austin to see it so using #Austin or #AustinTexas is a good start.
  • Don't stop at Instagram. Post your photo, photos, and video on Pinterest too so more people can save the post.
  • Start with some trending hashtags and then also include a couple niche tags. For example, #AustinTexas is a general hashtag, then you can include something a bit more specific such as the neighborhood or something about your business ie  #DowntownAustin or #AustinBakery #AustinDentist
  • Head to the discover tab and Instagram have different categories that you can click on. You may also type a hashtag in the search bar, showing you related categories. This shows up when you use a laptop or phone.
  • Use hashtags on Instagram Reels too. You can add them in the caption or in the comment section.
  • Start posting Halloween content earlier than in October.
