Sumatran Tiger Cub Bakso Makes First Appearance at Maharajah Jungle Trek at Disney's Animal Kingdom Park

Fans of Sumatran tiger cub Bakso and his mom Sohni can now watch him grow up on weekly episodes on the Disney Parks YouTube. The Tiger Tuesday Live! series allows viewers to get a behind-the-scenes look at baby Bakso as he grows and learns how to navigate the world around him. Bakso and his mom Sohni are located at Disney's Animal Kingdom Park at Walt Disney World. The tigers have access to veterinary care, animal training, enrichment, and natural surroundings as part of the Disney Conservation efforts.

The public got the first look at Bakso in October 2024 on the Vice President of Disney’s Animals, Science & Environment, Dr. Mark Penning’s Instagram page. Since then, the adventurous tiger has captivated the world as he takes on new experiences with his mom keeping an ever-watchful eye. There are nine Tiger Tuesday Live! episodes to watch on the Disney Parks YouTube channel.

You can take your time tuning in or spend the afternoon binge-watching them all in one go to get your fill of the adorable baby animal. Each episode means Bakso gets closer to making his debut on Maharajah Jungle Trek with his mom, Sohni.

As you watch from episode to episode, you can watch Bakso hit some vital milestones, such as taking his first swim or trying solid food. You can also enjoy some feel-good moments like watching him cuddle with his mom, Sohni. The close-up views make it feel like you're right there with them without having to take a trip to the park.

The episodes give viewers a peek at what the growth process of a cub looks like but also what it looks like for mom. Bakso starts to nurse less, sleep more, and partake in enrichment activities. In episode six, we get to watch Bakso as he explores a new area: the backstage habitat, which allows him to practice his jumping, rolling, and pouncing skills – all of which are important skills for the young Sumatran tiger cub to master.

By the time make your way through episode nine you'll have watched the little cub grow, both developmentally and in size. There is not a standard time as each episode varies in length. Episode two is the longest at 65 minutes and episode six is the shortest at just 15 minutes. Each episode gives you a different look at Mom and cub from a live-stream perspective.

There is no music or narration, which allows viewers to focus solely on the animals and what they're up to week after week. The series wrapped up its final episode to celebrate Bakso’s big Maharajah Jungle Trek appearance. The excursion allows guests to roam around the tropical trails to encounter various animals, such as gibbons, water buffalo, over 50 bird species, and of course Sohni and Bakso. The experience is available for all ages and heights. Now you can see Bakso in person during your next trip to Disney's Animal Kingdom Park!
