10 Best Mean Girls Quotes

Wednesday, April 30, 2014

Mean Girls was released on April 30, 2004, people! Can't believe how time flies. All these years later, the quotes are still uttered daily. Check out the 10 best Mean Girls quotes! Enjoy & reminisce. :]

1. "On Wednesday's we wear pink." Hmm...10 year anniversary. It's Wednesday. I didn't wear pink. Uh oh!

2. "She doesn't even go here!" All she wanted was to bake a cake made out of rainbows & smiles. Is that so bad?

3. "So fetch!" Admit it. We all attempted to use Gretchen's catchphrase. Didn't work out so well. Never caught on. Now I know how she feels.

4. "Don't have sex. You will get pregnant & die." It's funny because there's one person in your lifetime who tells you something like this as a child, & it scares you for too many years.

5. "Boo you whore." Man, Regina is totally brutal. She says it so easily as if she's saying "I like carbs."

6. "You can't sit with us." This time it's Gretchen's turn to be harsh. I bet she felt a rush of power for finally giving Regina a taste of her own medicine.

7. "Grool." She meant to say cool but she started to say great. I LOVE this quote. I like to say it sometimes; I think people think I'm saying 'gruel' though.

8. "I'm not a regular mom, I'm a cool mom." Said every mom ever when meeting their kid's friends for the first time.

9. "And none for Gretchen Wieners." Burn. Burn. Burned again.

10. You go Glenn Coco. Need I say more?

All .gifs were found via Tumblr. Well, here's hoping you enjoyed this trip down memory lane. The 10 year anniversary of Mean Girls makes me want to watch it ASAP. Have a grool day! :]

P.S. You can watch Mean Girls on Netflix!!

HARD Summer 2014 Playlist: Day 1

Friday, April 25, 2014

One good thing about music, when it hits you feel no pain. So hit me with music. Hit me with music. Hit me with music. Hit me with music now. That's according to Bob Marley anyway. But isn't it true? Music is a release. It's like a getaway from life. You lose yourself in the moment. Man, I can't wait to get lost for two days. August 2 + 3 can't come fast enough. Although, let's be real. It will come quickly. Things you look forward to always come at you rapidly, mercilessly.

I took the liberty of creating a YouTube playlist of HARD Summer 2014 artists. I wanted to get hyped on this rad EDM fest without having to hop from one place to another. I hope you enjoy. There are a lot of artists playing at HARD Summer, so the playlist is a work in progress. Keep checking back and the list will get bigger and bigger. I guarantee it.

Get pumped. Get hyped. Get your friends. Get ready to go HARD.
You're welcome.

Initially, I wanted to have one complete playlist, but that proved to be much too long. As it is, the Day 1 playlist is nearly 90 songs and 7 hours long. But I wanted it to be complete; you can listen to it all and have a good feel for each artist.

Blast this HARD Summer 2014 playlist at your next party. Blast this playlist as you drip sweat during a killer workout. Blast this playlist to get you pumped up before work or class. Blast this playlist alone. Blast this playlist with friends. Blast this playlist in the shower. Blast this playlist before bed (WARNING: this playlist may hype you up rather than get you sleepy). The point is: blast this playlist.

Let's get excited. After all, this is a shared experience. We'll be there together. The EDM community is a great one! My question to you: who are your top 5 must see artists? Comment below!

Adventures & AriZona Iced Tea

Tuesday, April 22, 2014

Sometimes all you need is a bit of adventure. You know? One of those days that never seems to end. You'll look back and have countless stories. It's all about a good old fashioned jam packed day. It reminds me of those hot summers back in my elementary school years. My friend and I used to walk, meet up, and watch cartoons, eat candy, and write our handmade mini magazine. Some things changes. Some things don't change. This particular adventure is almost incidental. But sometimes a journey requires a few key items. This particular adventure needs:

+ A friend
+ A zest for life
+ Candy
+ Nature

My adventure guest stars Andrea, one of my best homies. Andy and I took a long stroll to the convenience store for some necessary items to get the most out of our day. Of course, she forgot her wallet. If it wasn't her, it'd be me. We're that type of people. We bought sweets. Too many sweets. My stomach paid for it later, as I got a horrible belly ache. Kids, remember not too eat too much sugar or you'll end up like me!

Sour gummy worms? No. We prefer to call them Sour Jacks. Well, that's the CVS version anyway. Andy & I liked the name, so we decided to call all gummy candies Sour Jacks. These poor guys fell out of the bag. Rest in peace Sour Jacks! You'll be missed. Not really. My stomach already started to hurt at this point.

Arizona Iced Tea. One of earth's greatest ideas. Many flavors for all types of taste buds. We went with Mucho Mango because we figured it'd go well with our Bacardi. It did. This photo was taken at our second rest stop of our arduous trek. We needed a refresher. Mission accomplished. What's your favorite Arizona Iced Tea drink?

We ventured to a really cool nature spot, our usual hangout. It involves a bit of a hike, but it's worth it. We like to 'blast' music on our phones, drink our juice or beer or whatever thirst-quencher we have on hand, and enjoy our time. After a few hours of talking, picking flowers, and dancing, we felt completely inspired by the nature.

And perhaps the most important lesson of the day, don't be afraid to take risks. After all, you miss all the shots you don't take. Step outside of your comfort zone. Go somewhere different. No flower is the same. Take a shot at life.

P.S. Happy Earth Day! Earth is a lovely place so every day should be earth day!

How to Tie Dye a Shirt with Bleach

Sunday, April 20, 2014

Hello my dear friends! It's been a long time coming, but I'm proud to bring you a super easy DIY project. This is an easy bleach tie dye DIY project to do with any old t-shirt that leaves you uninspired. We all have some old tees that we never wear anymore. They either need to be upscaled or tossed out. This bleach tie dye DIY project only takes a few minutes & you can witness the magic as it happens.

What you'll need:
+ Water
+ Spray bottle

Note: this is my way. I didn't do it the standard way, which required way too much bleach. I really like how it turned out. But that's usually how I roll. I like to do it my way. If you like how it turned out, here's how to do it:

1. Grab an old shirt that you don't care for any more. Twist the shirt haphazardly and add 2 or 3 rubber bands. Locate your spray bottle. Now mix equal parts bleach & water. For this particular bleach tie dye DIY project, my mixture amounted to about 1/4 of a cup. Make sure you go outside for this. Bleach is extremely toxic, so get a lot of fresh air! Gloves are also recommended.

2. You're going to spray the bleach water mixture directly on t-shirt. The more you spray (the wetter it is) the lighter it'll get. On my shirt, the lighter sections had a considerable amount of bleach versus the reddish areas that had less bleach. I like the contrast.

3. Spray your shirt. Now take out the rubber bands & relocate them. Essentially, you're going to do steps 1 & 2 several times until you get your desired result. Your bleach tie dye DIY is your creation. If you only do it one time, your shirt will be mostly unbleached (& incomplete). I would've taken a photo to document the process, but my hands were bleachy so that was a no-go. Keep spraying. Take out the rubber bands & replace until you have your desired look.

This easy bleach tie dye DIY project only takes 10-15 minutes. If you're outside on a nice, sunny day you can literally see the bleach working as you spray it. Give your revamped shirt as a gift to someone else or enjoy your 'new' shirt. It made this plain, black boyfriend tee so much more fresh & fun. Tie dye is perfect for spring & summer style. Tie dye is perfect for men, women, & children. Tie dye is perfect, okay?!!? :]

Before you dump those old grimy clothes, you should see if you can DIY it first! Have a great day. Stay crafty. Check out my other DIY crafts here: DIY projects

Dreams // A Poem

Sunday, April 13, 2014

As the night turned to the day
& our bodies turned to dust,
I thought about life's purpose
& what will happen to us.
I pondered about my past.
I wondered about yours too.
Will we accomplish our dreams,
everything we wanted to?
We are dreamers, my dearest.
We've got our heads in the sky,
but I like us like that, love.
We can make it if we try.
So if we end up falling
we can land high on a cloud.
Let's do our best & do it hard.
Then we can always be proud.

Q&A with SoundSnobz

Sunday, April 06, 2014

SOUNDSNOBZ. Why so snobby? SoundSnobz, established in 2012, consists of TroyBoi and icekream. The London-based trap duo claim their inspiration hails from all across the globe due to their varied backgrounds. The group is well-traveled, playing mainly in London, but they aim to grow drastically this year. After a delay in responses, the sound snoots very apologetically answered my questions. This brought to light their sense of humanity and warmth, which I appreciated as a writer. It's something about their personality. They care. They care about their music and they respect their fans.

TroyBoi: Troy
icekream: ice

Troy: 26
ice: 28

Troy: London
ice: Paris

Location: London and Dubai

Where do you gather inspiration?
Troy: Literally from anything! From the knocking of a pen on the table to the Taiko drums of Japan. We both come from extremely cultured backgrounds (Lebanese, American, Nigerian, Indian, Chinese, Portuguese) and we take a lot of influences from music from there too. We like anything quirky and love to explore anything out of the ordinary.

What do you think the other person brings to the duo?
ice: Another flavour. Another interpretation. Another banger. Another opinion. Another sound, amongst other things!

What can we expect from SoundSnobz in 2014?
Troy: Expect a lot of noise from us! Shows, tracks.....it's gonna be a big year! We don't wanna give too much away just yet ;)

Where can your fans see you perform live?
ice: At least every week in London, of course. Always check our IG/Twitter to stay up to date on our moves...

How have you evolved since you first started?
Troy: We have really learnt to embrace each other's styles of production and by doing this we have come off with the perfect formula in order to create a SoundSnobz track. We both have perfected our styles individually and this has been key in order to bring out both our musical characteristics in our tracks that are done together. We really feel strongly about each other's sound and the musical chemistry we both have is incredible.
Why the name "SoundSnobz?"
ice: One of my boys coined it actually. We were in Abu Dhabi arguing over dinner time music selection and I was like: “Sami, there's no way in hell I'm eating to this music!” He then looked at me with disgust and said: “Geeeez! You're such a sound snob! What the hell!!” I instantly knew that name was a keeper and asked my friends permission to keep it forever. He said yes but only if we give him 5% of everything we make.............forever!

What's the best film of all time?
Troy: We both love films! It's hard to pick the best but the Lord of the Rings trilogy might have to be up there!

What's your all time favorite food?
ice: Lebanese

Favorite drink?
Troy: Alcoholic or nice cold Fanta!

What do you do when you're not making music?
ice: Listening to it! One way or another: Radio, Podcast, iTunes, Driving/Walking around blasting it on the speakers/headphones. Also thoroughly enjoy TV shows, movies & current, global affairs.

Who knows where the duo will be by the end of 2014, but all signs point to success. They have a large following on SoundCloud with only room to grow. Let their catchy beats and snazzy jams move you.
